Wickles Chicken Fried Steak Sliders

A wicked mini version of a southern staple, Wickles style.

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of Hawaiian buns, or OPTION to whip up your favorite homemade biscuits 
  • 1.5 lb cube steak 
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup milk 
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup canola or vegetable oil 
  • 1 tbsp butter 
  • 1 jar Wickles Pickles 
  • Gravy – store bought or make your own favorite recipe

Directions:

  1. Preheat oil and butter to 350 degrees in a cast iron skillet 
  2. Whisk eggs and milk together in a small bowl
  3. Add flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika and cayenne pepper together is another small bowl
  4. Cut steak into 3-4 inch pieces
  5. Place cubed steak into flour mixture, coating on all sides
  6. Place the cubed steak into the egg and milk mixture, coating on all sides
  7. Return cubed steak to flour mixture and shake off excess, repeat until all steak is coated
  8. Place coated steak on a clean plate
  9. Cook the meat, a few pieces at a time (this will vary depending on your pan size, do not overcrowd the pan) for about 3 minutes per side 
  10. Remove steak from the pan and transfer to paper towel lined plate or tray, repeat until all steak is cooked 
  11. Place one piece of chicken fried steak on each slider (or biscuit) and top with your favorite gravy (store bought or homemade) and a Wickle Pickle then enjoy
